How does Ultrasound work and how does it help?
Ultrasound therapy treatment that has been used since the 1940's. The application of ultrasound utilizes a probe or wand which is placed into direct contact with the skin of the affected area.
Ultrasound gel is used on the surface of the skin to help reduce friction and improve the transmission of the ultra-sonic waves. As these sound waves pass through the skin they cause a vibration of the local tissues which results in a local heating effect. The patient though will normally feel no heat during the application. The intensity of the ultrasound shall be adjusted depending on the desired effect and the treatment needed.
